Regional perspectives on ending violence against women

The latest issue of the Swiss Society of Americanists’ journal brings together voices from Africa and Latin America to explore strategies for ending violence against women.

The latest issue of the Swiss Society of Americanists’ journal, Violence Against Women: Crossed Feminist Perspectives between Africa and Latin America, presents a rich collection of analyses and testimonies on feminist approaches to preventing and eliminating gender-based violence across both regions.

Published in Spanish, this special edition stems from the international colloquium held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, in December 2022, which brought together scholars, activists, and practitioners from 10 countries to exchange knowledge and strategies for advancing gender equality.

Supported by the Executive Certificate in Gender and Development in Africa and Latin America and desco – Centre for Studies and Promotion of Development, the publication features ten selected papers from the colloquium alongside contributions from participants of the 2024 cohort of the Executive Certificate.

By connecting academic insights with field experience, the report highlights the power of cross-regional feminist collaboration to address violence against women and promote transformative social change.
