Under the new joint Direction of Professor Mohamed Mahmoud Mohamedou, Director of Executive Education and Eliane Ballouhey, Executive Director of Executive Education, the Institute’s Graduate Executive Education is entering in a new strategic phase.
It is the go-to place for executives who want to anticipate the impact the future of international affairs and development will have on the way they run their organisation.
At the heart of International Geneva, our flexible and certified programmes help executives take a step forward in their career through our practical expertise, anchored in our cutting-edge research.
The Graduate Institute’s creation in 1927 was prompted by the establishment of the League of Nations in Geneva following World War I, and from the desire to avoid a new global catastrophe by making diplomacy more transparent and by better training citizens on international issues.
In the early 2000s, public authorities in Bern and Geneva initiated the idea of bringing Graduate Institute of International Studies (HEI) and Graduate Institute of Development Studies (IUED) together to increase Geneva’s international profile through the creation of a major academic institution. Education and training for professionals is a clear priority of the new Institute. To meet this objective, the Institute created in 2008 an Executive Education platform that regrouped existing programmes from the two previous institutions and that will build upon existing expertise to develop a cutting-edge and diversified set of courses.
