Diplomacy Workshops: Decoding International Risks and Security

The second session of the Diplomacy Workshops series, Decoding International Risks and Security, was recently held at the Villa Barton in partnership with the Diplomatic Club of Geneva.

Introduced by Professor Davide Rodogno, Co-Director of Executive Education at the Institute, the session featured thought-provoking presentations by Professor Sara Hellmüller, Research Professor at the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP), and Dr Jean-Marc Rickli, Head of Global and Emerging Risks at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP).

In today's rapidly evolving global landscape, security challenges extend far beyond traditional armed conflict. The session explored a spectrum of transnational threats, including pandemics, cyberattacks, climate shocks, economic volatility and geopolitical tensions. These risks are increasingly complex, interconnected and unpredictable, requiring stronger collective resilience, enhanced international cooperation and agile response mechanisms.

We warmly thank all participants for their dynamic engagement and sincerely thank Prof. Hellmüller and Dr Rickli for leading such an insightful and timely discussion.
